A 1484 Paduan first edition of De Pulsibus by the French physician Gilles de Corbeil (1165-1223), the first book on the pulse, was composed in verse. Bound in later vellum. It was offered at the Swanns auction in New York on May 24 and sold at $26,000 (£18,570) (+ 15 per cent buyer's premium).
One of 575 coloured engraved plates from an eight-volume Herbier général de l’amateur of 1810-27 by J.C.M. Mordaunt de Launay and J.L.A. Loiseleur-Deslongchamps. It sold at Sotheby’s, Milan on May 8/9 for Li30.55m (£9745) incl. 17.5/13 per cent buyer's premium).
