Despite finding an alternative venue for the November 8-11 Modernism show (now just off 5th Ave on West 23 St), the veteran organiser said he had no choice but to cancel both the Connoisseurs’ Antiques Fair and the Art of the 20th Show. Both were to be held from November 16-19.
The dealer roster at both shows, particularly the 20th century art event, had evolved to include many leading dealers from both Europe and the US and had promised to complement the nearby Triple Pier Show, another casualty of recent events. The cancellation of the two shows almost brings to an end New York’s decimated autumn season.
The only event proceeding as scheduled is Dr Jerome Eisenberg’s new Antiquarian Fine Art Fair at Madison Square Garden from November 30 to December 4.

USA: As expected, US show organiser Sanford Smith has been forced to follow other New York fairs and cancel his two high-profile mid-November shows at the city’s two armory buildings.
