A laid-in TLs by a Tunbridge Wells bookseller records the fact that it was
purchased as part of the library of Linton Park, near Maidstone – then the home of the the Cornwallis family, but formerly the seat of Sir Horace Mann, the dedicatee, whose library had come into Cornwallis family hands as part of the fixtures and fittings of the mansion.

Elegy on Captain Cook
US: IT MAY be 25 years since a copy of the Elegy on Captain Cook, as “composed and and publickly recited before the Royal Academy of Florence” by Michelangelo Gianetti, was last seen at auction, and this 1785 Florentine first edition, engraved throughout and bound in contemporary calf, would also appear to be the dedication copy.
