Mr Yates, 57, of Sandiacre, Notts, appeared at Aylesbury Crown Court on June 4 to deny the charges. Defending barrister Rupert Pardoe told the court: “There may be considerable media interest in this case and the defendant is anxious that the matter should not be tried in the immediate locality of Bletchley Park.” The Station-X museum site is within 20 miles of Aylesbury.
Judge Daniel Rodwell QC advised that the appeal would have to be heard by the presiding judge on the South East Circuit. He granted the defence 14 days to appeal. Mr Yates was released on unconditional bail.
