Some 18 shows will be mounted by members in an exercise in self-promotion which has proved immensely beneficial not just to CADA members but to the trade in the whole region.
Indeed, many overseas visitors, particularly Americans, now make these exhibitions the focal point of their visits to the United Kingdom. And the visitors do spend money.
Sean Clarke of Stow-on- the-Wold’s Christopher Clarke Antiques, chairman of CADA, says: “The CADA exhibitions fortnight has a strong following among the private sector as well as the trade, both at home and abroad.
“Enquiries about exhibitions are already coming in, but perhaps it is not surprising as they afford the visitor the opportunity to see some superb collections on a variety of subjects at their own leisure surrounded by the Cotswolds countryside.
“Added to this, the confidence that the public enjoy in buying from well-respected and knowledgeable dealers should not be underestimated.”
Exhibition fortnight to spread over eight towns in Cotswolds
UK: EARLY notice that, for the fourth season, The Cotswolds Antique Dealers’ Association is holding a series of selling exhibitions in members’ shops and this year they will take place in eight towns between October 13 and 27.
