An undated Mädchen mit Kalb by Anton Romako (1832-89), a twee look at a young girl holding a tawny calf licking its lips, 26 x 21in (65 x 54cm), made ASch2.1m (£95,500). Alfons Walde’s sunny Alpine snowscapes remain popular: his oil-on-board Tiroler Bergdorf (Auracher Kirche) with onion-domed church, 15 x 111/2in (39 x 29cm), raced to ASch1.1m (£50,000) while his smaller Einsamer Winter, 83/4 x 11in (22 x 28cm), a snowscape with rocky cliff and evergreens, fetched ASch740,000 (£33,600).
Rudolf von Alt’s watercolour view of Belle Epoque elegance milling Im Wiener Volksgarten, 71/2 x 123/4in (19 x 32cm), took ASch500,000 (£22,700) and a black chalk Klimt sketch (c.1902) of a middle-aged woman in a fur wrap, Stehende Dame mit Pelzboa, 18 x 12in (45 x 31cm), took ASch260,000 (£11,800)

From puppet show to porcelain
AUSTRIA: THERE were three prices of over ASch1m (£50,000) at the Wiener Kunst (20 per cent buyer’s premium) modern art sale on March 6, starting with Rudolf Wacker’s 1924 Puppentheater, 25 x 19in (64 x 47cm), a puppet theatre with rag doll, at ASch2.2m (£100,000). The back of the canvas featured another painting, of boats moored in a small marina.
