Measuring 3ft 3in by 4ft 6in (97cm x 1.38m), it had a decorative frieze of blind arched scrolls, and realised £3500.
Another good seller was a small mid-18th century mahogany chest, 2ft 6in (76cm) wide, which brought £3300.
In the ceramics section, traditional favourites such as Clarice Cliff and toby jugs found a ready market. Two Fantasque bowls, 8in and 81/2in (20cm x 21.5cm), and a 1930s Fragrance pattern fruit bowl, 81/2in, all brought between £260-£270 while a run of three toby jugs, all c.1800, took £420-440 each.
The most sought-after ceramics entry was a sizeable pair of early 20th century Lefco ware jardinières and stands, the columns and bowls moulded with curvilinear and zoomorphic motifs in the style of Archibald Knox. The 3ft 3in (99cm) tall pieces sold at £900 while a slightly larger Burmantofts faience
jardinière and stand, 3ft 10in (1.17m) brought £880.

Furniture took the only four-figure bids at this 858-lot Heathcote Ball Leicester sale on June 21 with a George II oak chest-on-stand leading the way.
