The show was scheduled to take place at New York’s 7th Regiment Armory on Park Avenue from October 19 to 25, but continued use of the Armory by the National Guard for emergency purposes meant it was impossible to make any firm plans for next month.
They now have a confirmed location for the event which will take place on the spacious 10th floor of Sotheby’s newly refurbished headquarters at 1334 York Avenue on the same dates as planned. The news comes as a relief to exhibitors many of whom were determined that the show should go ahead. Earlier in the week the Haughtons confirmed that they had cancelled their International Art and Design Fair, scheduled for September 29 to October 2.
“Logistical problems from different agencies made it impossible for us to obtain the assurances we need to set up and hold the fair in the time frame left to us.,” they stated.
Reports from New York at the end of last week suggested that the Seventh Regiment Armory would be used by emergency services for the whole of the autumn and it was doubtful if any events would be feasible until at least November. The Haughton fairs are by no means the only events likely to be affected by the continuing problems in New York.

LONDON organisers Brian and Anna Haughton managed to clinch a deal with Sotheby’s late last week which will allow their New York flagship event, The International Fine Art and Antique Dealers Show, to go ahead.
