However, after some years in Paris and two in Geneva the Salon de Mars was building up quite a following so one of its organising team, Viviane Jutheau de Witt, an ex-Paris auctioneer now based in Switzerland and full of belief in Geneva as an international centre, is going it alone. Well, not quite alone since she has a new business partner, Robert Preslier, a well-known Swiss art collector, and together they are reviving the idea of a Geneva fair with GENEV’ ART.
This new fair will be staged in Hall 7 at Palexpo from February 1 to 9, 2003 and although planning is still in early stages it is thought a good many of the 90 to 100 dealers who exhibited at Salon de Mars will seriously consider the new event, which will be annual.
Geneva fair lives again
FOLLOWING the cancellation of Salon de Mars 2002 owing to a dispute with the venue over a clash with other fixtures, its organisers Association ARES have dissolved and Salon de Mars is no more.
