Part of a large collection of Matchbox toys, the price realised for this entry reflected the extremes to which obsessive Matchbox toy collectors are prepared to go for works with even the slightest difference.
The car’s paintwork was crucial and it was pursued to £1200 while an identical but blue Morris Minor only managed a £120 bid.
When it comes to collecting vintage clothes, condition is all important. A lime green silk chiffon dress with a gold sequinned bodice, c.1920, in good order, was one of several entries to sell well from a large local textile consignment. It fetched £220, while a suitcase containing a large collection of feather hat trimmings tickled the fancy of several buyers, selling at £280.
