The modern façade of the arrivals, customs and cargo halls of Wharf 8 sets the tone for a show promising a blend of periods and styles. More than 50 association members will exhibit and it is rare indeed for so many dealers from all over Australia to get together under one roof.
Each item offered is vetted by a committee of AADA members and – unique in Australian events – each item will carry a ticket describing what it is, where it comes from, what it is made of, its age, restoration undertaken and, of course, price.
You can’t ask for much more than that.
Unlike many other countries and, perhaps surprisingly, Mr Aronson notes a resurgence of business in the Australian antiques industry over the past year, so the omens look good for Australia’s top fair.
Admission is $15.
Antiques are on the up and up Down Under
FROM August 27 to 31 The Australian Antique Dealers Association hold their third annual AADA Antiques and Fine Art Fair at what the association’s president Charles Aronson assures me is Sydney’s hottest venue, Wharf 8 of the city’s Darling Harbour Passenger Terminal.
