Well-known London dealer in early country furniture and distinctive objects Robert Hirschhorn is one of those who appeals to the connoisseur as much as the interior designer.

His Camberwell Georgian town house is where he lives and deals and his interiors exempify the look which is his trademark – “Smart Country” is how he once defined it.

His fourth annual selling exhibition will be held at his home from September 12-14 and those who wish to visit should first ring Robert on 020 7703 7443.

His furniture and objects are laid out in room settings, such as the one we illustrate, and he shares the show with fellow BADA member Maureen Morris who sells early needlework samplers to beautifully complement the 18th century and earlier furniture, treen and metalwork.

This year’s show is called simply ‘Country’ and is given a contemporary edge by the inclusion of pieces by ceramicist Jean Muir, who in part draws her inspiration from 16th century costume and painting.
