Working on the premise that the worst effects of fire or flood damage to art and antiques are inflicted either immediately or within the first 48 hours following a disaster, the Disaster Art Recovery Team expects to be on site of a fire or flood within 24 hours.
Following a telephone call to relay the type of damage and the location, a team of specialists will set off in a purpose built travelling restoration studio. Using the equipment in a custom fitted lorry, the worst case scenarios can be dealt with on site or at the least deterioration halted and arrangements made for full restoration later.
New emergency services for art and antiques
The Somerset-based restoration and conservation specialists Everett Fine Art Ltd will launch what they believe is the first emergency service for art and antiques this month.
