His 35 or so exhibitors have found a very up-market niche in the hotel in Brook Street, W1, which hosts only this exclusive Bailey event despite some envious eyes from other organisers.

The preview party on the first evening (April 2) has become a legendary social night on the London fairs calendar where Mr Bailey distributes largesse as only he can.

But this unique fair is more than just fun.The faithful regulars find there is business, often with the inmates of Claridge’s, and the fair attracts rich tourists who visit no other fairs.

There is no dateline at the Claridge’s fair which occupies all the major function rooms on the ground floor. Admission to the champagne preview is £20 and thereafter entrance is £10.
