The Dorset Fundraising Committee of the Elizabeth Finn Trust have been collecting items throughout the summer for a sale in the Long Room at Charborough Park near Poole, a private house not usually open to the public.

The Elizabeth Finn Trust, named after the founder and 19th century social campaigner, seeks to help the estimated 3.8 million people in Britain who live below the poverty line.
Jane Denholm, the Scottish co-ordinator of the charity is planning a similar sale supported by Lyon & Turnbull. An Auction of Promises will be held in their Edinburgh salerooms on the evening of September 27 with entrance (plus wine and canapés) set at £15 a ticket (£25 per couple).
