The news comes just weeks after Southampton Institute revealed that they would be suspending their three-year BA course for at least a year.
The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) have already accredited the postgraduate course at Kingston and if enough students apply it will start in September.
"Whilst it is anticipated that those entering the programme will have either a first degree in art history or a related discipline orhave had work experience within the field, the programme is designed as a conversion course allowing graduates from other disciplines to enter the arts market," a spokesman said.
The course is designed to be studied full-time over one year or part-time over two.
It is led by a core staff of professors, lecturers and researchers with visiting leading practitioners within the field.
Kingston are thought to be the largest university in the country and have extensive resources. They already have access to Dorich House on Kingston Hill, the former home of sculptor Dora Gordine, and the Stanley Picker Gallery of Contemporary art.
Kingston Museum has an extensive collection that includes memorabilia from one of the town's most famous sons, Edward Muybridge, including his invention, the world's first camera, the zoopraxiscope.
