Art and Crime on May 23 is a conference at the Chartered Accountants Hall in Moorgate, held by The Fraud Advisory Panel in association with the Arts Club. Related topics will include tax evasion, forgeries, looted Iraqi antiquities and money-laundering.

Speakers will include Mark Dalrymple, director of loss adjusters Tyler & Co, eminent expert on art and law Professor Norman Palmer, who chaired the Ministerial Advisory Panel on the Illicit trade in Cultural Objects in 2000, and Dick Ellis, formerly of Scotland Yard’s Art and Antiques Squad.

Art and Antiques Awareness Day on May 10 at New Scotland Yard is the Metropolitan Police Art and Antiques Unit’s initiative. Aimed at the public – for £149 including lunch – it will cover a similar range of topics and include information on the Met’s Art and Antiques Unit and advice from the High Tech Crime Unit on internet purchases.
