Over 220 pieces were taken from the stand of Epoque Fine Jewels during the night of August 13. The haul is thought to be worth around £2m.

The thieves broke into the venue of the Art Nocturne Fair in Knokke without being caught by the alarms and cameras, before opening the safe at the stand of the Grosvenor House and Maastricht exhibitors.

Items taken include signed pieces by Lalique, Vever, Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Boucheron and Giuliano, and the Art Nouveau gold, pearl, enamel and ivory pendant seen here.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Belgian federal police on 0032 5032 8477 or the Loss Adjuster on 0032 474 836027. A selection of the stolen items is also visible at www.stolenart.be

On the same day as the Belgian theft, a large number of antiques were also stolen from a privately owned castle in Holland, including a Louis XVI satinwood tea table and a decorative Persian mirror.
