Polly de Courcy-Ireland's passion for each piece she encountered is reflected in her comprehensive private collection of 16th to early 19th century treen offered by Tooveys of Washington, West Sussex on behalf of a member of her family on September 20. Among a total of 152 drinking vessels, smoking accoutrements and curios is this rare 18th century fruitwood snuffbox carved with twin-headed grotesques that carries an estimate of £1000-1500.
The afternoon sale of the Polly de Courcy-Ireland Treen Collection follows another exceptional consignment: English furniture from Bolney Lodge, Bolney, West Sussex sold to benefit the estate of Judge Patricia Coles who died last year. Contact 01903 891955.
