A £500,000 refurbishment programme has already started and will be completed within 11 weeks.
As with most out-of-town venues, the site offers much more in the way of space - particularly car parking space - than the firm's present address at 39 Park End Street. Bonhams' UK regional executive director Robert Bleasdale said the new site - with the flexibility to provide up to five different sale and viewing rooms - has the potential to become one of the biggest single auction sites in Europe in terms of both size and turnover.
"We can now offer clients easy access, with parking for 110 cars. Another major bonus for our clients and ourselves is that the new site is all on one level, has terrific loading and unloading facilities and scope for future development and growth, very different from our previous premises."
Sales of collectors' cars and motorcycles are expected alongside the existing traditional sale programme that will begin in November.
