The new event is actually a relaunch of the Lesters’Art Miami fair, which ran from 1991 to 1998, and will offer modern and contemporary art, design and photography.
Following his reacquisition from DMG last year of the two fairs he founded in Palm Beach, Mr Lester told ATG: “Dealers have asked that we bring back our former, very successful January fair to Miami Beach. This fair is targeted to once again serve seasonal visitors and residents who are not present in the Miami area during the December fair season.”
While recognising the success of the December art fairs and the global recognition they have brought to the Miami art scene, Lester insists his fair will cater to a different market than exisiting events such as Art Basel Miami.
The organisers envisage a fair of approximately 100 dealers drawn from North and Latin America, Europe and Asia and intend to liaise with local galleries to mount a range of activities centred on the new fixture.
