The stoneware bird jar that made £67,000 at Woolley & Wallis.
The 16½in (42cm) high jar by Robert Wallace Martin was consigned from a private collection.
Estimated at £35,000-45,000 at the sale on June 19, it sold to an agent acting on behalf of an American buyer.
The previous record was set by the Salisbury rooms in November 2012 when a gargoyle fetched £50,000.
The buyer's premium was 22%.
