Auctioneer Andrew Stowe said: “Lego has always been our biggest and best seller so we’ve decided to add a specialist Lego sale to our calendar.”

The sale, Specialist Auction of Lego - Bricks, Figures & Sets, will take place on December 3 and from next year it plans two a year.

Items already consigned include a collection of vintage 1980’s boxed Pirate sets, carrying estimates of around £60-80, as well as modern Lego such as from the Star Wars range including the sought after 10188 Death Star which carries an estimate of £300-500.

“Nostalgic relationship”

Stowe said the category is a thriving adult collector market. “Most generations have had some Lego at some point in their life,” he said. “Everyone recognises it, and has a great nostalgic relationship to it.”

Stowe said the first sale contains “all the sets I wanted as a child.” He added: “It’s a tough job sometimes!”

Viewing for the December sale takes place on December 2 at its saleroom on Hanham Business Park, to the east of the city centre.

The most sought after Lego set is reported to be Star Wars Ultimate Collectors Millennium Falcon 10179. A set sold last year for £1600.
