All these and many more items relating to the French capital will be up for grabs next week in a sale to be held at the Drouot auction centre in Paris on October 3.

Titled Paris Mon Amour, this is the 6th such event staged by the French auction firm Lucien Paris around this theme, with over 250 lots on offer.

The Eiffel tower element is a 2ft 11in (89cm) high assemblage of riveted iron girders which comes from the renovation undertaken in 1981-83 and is guided at €2000-2200. There are various wooden slatted Metro benches from the 1920s, both single and double seaters, guided from €200-300 to €400-500 and four examples of the metro maps known at PILI which have stations illuminated by light bulbs allowing travellers to plot their journey, each estimated at €1000-1200. Blue and white Paris street and Metro signs, maps and shop signs are among the other souvenirs of the city included in the auction.
