For the past two years the event has taken place in a marquee next to the octagonal Pavilion Gardens building. It is run by Cooper Antiques, which expects around 50 exhibitors will stand at its next edition, taking its numbers back to full strength (recent fairs have hosted around 30 dealers, given the smaller capacity of the marquee).

“Of course, we shall be making a splash for this occasion,” says fair director Sue Ede, who added that Mark Hill of BBC’s Antiques Roadshow would be joining in celebrations on opening day.

The event turns 54 in 2018 and takes place from May 17-20.

Date change

Cooper Events also organises the Westonbirt School fair, which has previously run three times a year. Next year the schedule changes as the final fair of the year will be pushed to run in January 2019.

The organiser also runs the Pavilions of Harrogate Fair, the Bath Decorative Antiques Fair and The Bruton Decorative Antiques Fair as well as the Giant Shepton Flea Market.
