A numbered edition from 150, it was one of 40 lots offered at the Manhattan sale.

Other highlights included NOLA (Pink to Yellow Rain) (2008) which sold at a hammer price of $85,000 (£63,680), and Rude Copper (Anarchy) which sold at $34,000 (£25,470). It was one of the artist’s first commercially produced prints and carried an estimate of $20,000-30,000.

In total, 37 out of 40 lots sold for a premium-inclusive $1m (£750,000). All lots are accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by Banksy’s official Pest Control Office.

US interest

Forum said around half of the lots sold to US buyers and several auction records were set.

In October 2016, Forum’s white-glove Banksy sale in London made more than £600,000 and set 15 records. The auction was the first for Forum’s Modern & Contemporary art and Editions department.

The December 12 New York sale meant there was no Artist's Resale Right (ARR) fee, UK import duty or VAT for European buyers taking delivery of purchased lots in London. However, New York City sales taxes of 8.875% will apply if a buyer takes delivery of purchased lots in New York.
