The selection of works from its forthcoming auctions will be shown at Shapero Modern at 32 St George Street from November 5-8.

The display will include an Achrome piece from 1961 by the artist Piero Manzoni and a selection of Danish Golden Age paintings, but the main focus is on works from the firm’s forthcoming Asian Art sale in Copenhagen on November 29.

Norie collection

Bruun Rasmussen are bringing more than 90 lots from this sale to London including a group of 29 lots from the collection of Evelyn Williams Medows Norie (1862-1915).

Born in India to English parents, Norie had a military education in India and from 1900 served in the Boxer Rebellion in China as a captain in the international military coalition. It was at this point that he assembled his collection of Asian art which is now being sold by his grand-daughter.

Among the 15 pieces that are coming to London will be a Qianlong white mutton fat jade bowl set on a carved wood stand. The bowl, which has pendant ring handles and lingzhi fungus feet, is carved in relief with Buddhist symbols to the exterior, flowers, bats and lingzhi to the interior and a flower to the base.

It is estimated at DKr 100,000-150,000 (approximately £12,000-18,000).
