Ian Ehling has joined Bonhams’ New York office as director of fine books and manuscripts.
He has more than 34 years of bookselling experience. In 1993 Ehling joined the staff at Christie’s, where he rose through the ranks to become a senior specialist. He was with Christie’s for 23 years until joining Bonhams.
He is joined in NY by senior specialist Darren Sutherland, long-standing head of the rare book room at the venerable NYC institution, the Strand Bookstore. He worked there for 10 years.
Bonhams NY holds a Fine Books & Manuscripts Featuring Exploration and Travel auction on September 26.
