Maison Artefact of Lillie Road was among the galleries that sold out on the first day. Owner Victoria Davar was busy restocking on the second day in preparation for the next five days of the fair.

Patrick Macintosh shares a stand with Richard Nadin, but his highlight piece is positioned just outside Battersea Evolution Marquee where the fair takes place. The George III sheet steel cast iron and lead painted bath is thought to have been from Sir John Soane’s mock Roman ruin Pitzhanger Manor.

The fair is only minutes away from the Battersea dogs and cats home and three times a year the event welcomes canines of all shapes and sizes to visit the stands with their discerning owners.

Kate Thurlow of Gallery Forty One features this naïve carving of a female saint from Catalonia. Carved c1600, the piece retains its original polychrome decoration and is available for £2700.

This year the Battersea Decorative fair shares its venue with the London Antique Rug and Textile Art Fair (LARTA) for the first time. LARTA organiser Aaron Nejad said he was pleased with the set-up process and space in the new venue.

Dealers were encouraged to show visitors how gothic could be twisted to fit a 21st century home. The theme of the fair was demonstrated in a foyer exhibition to which a number of dealers contributed pieces.
