The house, near Stratford on Avon, has Shakespearian connections and was sold last year.

Hansons’ representative Steven Bruce said: “The house is mentioned in the Domesday Book and the village is reputed to be the meeting place of William Shakespeare and his wife-to-be Anne Hathaway, and was occupied by relatives of Hathaway.

“It was sold before Christmas by its owners, who have lived there for 27 years. They have decided to move to a smaller property so, unusually, 90% of the contents is being offered.”

The sale runs from January 18-20 and on January 22-23.
