The burglary took place at the chapel of Catton Hall during the night of May 5-6 and police have been informed.

Among the items stolen were a brass cross, a pair of candlesticks and an eagle lectern. A spokesperson for the family said: “These chattels have been in our family for hundreds of years and we are devastated. We hope the antiques trade may be able to help look out for these pieces and help us recover them.”

Derbyshire Constabulary said anyone with information should contact the police quoting reference number 18*205264. 

The stolen items comprise a pair of three pronged candlesticks, four single candlesticks, an eagle lectern, a collection plate, a cross with precious stones, six vases and a jug.
