Hansons – Staffordshire
This William IV silver gilt table bell with cast ornate foliate closed scroll handle is offered at Hansons’ Christmas sale, which runs from December 18-20. With a guide of £4500-6500, it is by Paul Storr and features Rococo style scrollwork and flowering foliage with central cartouche engraved with a Paul Storr monogram. A date letter, probably that of 1838, is marked on body, rim and clapper.
Moore Allen & Innocent – Cirencester
Moore Allen & Innocent offers a silver-plated neo-Classical table bell in its December 14 antiques auction. Decorated with cherubs and figures on a similarly decorated dish, it is estimated at £50-80 and is offered with a turquoise set metal pot and cover. A large vintage cow bell with a leather collar is also included in the sale also with an estimate of £50-80.
Lacy Scott & Knight – Bury St Edmunds
This large Japanese bronze ship’s bell, of typical form, includes a square bale and remains of a wrought iron hanger. Offered without its clapper it has an estimate of £50-80 in Lacy Scott & Knight’s sale of medals and militaria with country pursuits on December 19. Another ship’s bell, stamped with the Royal cipher of George VI, is offered by Nottingham auctioneer Arthur Johnson & Sons. Offered in good condition it is hung on a hardwood cherry backboard and is offered without estimate on December 15
Taylors Auction Rooms – Montrose
Another table bell, this one in the shape of an old lady, is on offer at Taylors Auction Rooms, which holds its Christmas Jewellery, Watch & Silver Sale on December 15. The silver-plated bell has an estimate of £80-120.
Littleton Auctions – Evesham
The 1986 wedding of Prince Andrew and Miss Ferguson is commemorated by this Bell’s whisky decanter. Though the marriage ended in 1996, the decanter may be of interest to those with an interest in Royal Wedding memorabilia or the highly-collectable Bell’s decanters. It is offered without estimate at Littleton’s sale of Antiques, Furniture & Collectables on December 15.
