Shrewsbury’s Halls Fine Art Auctioneers has hired auctioneer and valuer Joseph Trinder from Dawson's Auctioneers in Maidenhead, Berkshire, where he had worked since March 2017.
Trinder is a past president of auctioneer body NAVA Propertymark, when at 21 he was the youngest to hold the post. He was previously at Wotton Auction Rooms for five years.
Starting in January, the role will include business development to “establish new relationships and source consignments from a wider region” for the Shropshire auction house.
Trinder said: “I feel my generalist background and knowledge will be put to great effect at Halls as I can contribute to all facets of the business.”
Halls’ fine art director Jeremy Lamond said: “We are delighted to be welcoming such a well-respected industry figure who has accomplished so much in such a relatively short time.”
Dawson's London hires
Dawson's, which also operates a valuation office in Hampstead, north London, has hired two new staff.
Maxine Winning joins as an auctioneer and valuer in its London office. Most recently she worked at Melbourne based auction house Leonard Joel in Australia.
Harrison Goldman joins Dawson's as a valuer and to focus on business development in the London office. He has previously worked in interior design for a private client and most recently held a research post in Tel-Aviv, Israel working on an exhibition at The Bauhaus Centre.
Hansons’ appoints decorative arts specialist
Hansons Auctioneers has appointed Andy Green as a new decorative arts specialist. He will lead three specialist 20th century design auctions at the auction house's Derbyshire saleroom in 2019.
Green, from Buxton, Derbyshire, started collecting Art Deco sculpture and 20th century design objects more than 20 years ago before becoming an art dealer.
He said: “The collector’s market for decorative arts has increased scarcity and inflated prices in recent years as people appreciate the bewildering designs. It remains one of the best-performing investment sectors in the antiques art market.”
Hansons will hold its first 20th century Design/Decorative Arts/Pen Auction on February 22 with entries invited until February 1. Two more auctions will follow on June 21 and October 25 2019.

Phillips move
Auction house Phillips is moving to a new New York home at 432 Park Avenue next year. The new building includes Park Avenue Cube, a white-glass modernist structure of more than 5000 sq ft across two floors on the northwest corner of 56th Street and Park Avenue plus 30,000 sq ft of office space.

Jewellery focus at Special Auction Services
Special Auction Services (SAS) in Berkshire is to expand its auction calendar with monthly Jewellery, Silver and Watch auctions.
Director Thomas Forrester will oversee the jewellery section, while his business partner Neil Shuttleworth will continue to lead the watch and silver departments.
The first in the new, expanded calendar is Jewellery and Watches on February 14. A Jewellery, Watches, Silver, Stamps & Coins sale will follow on March 21.
