Pageantry to the fore as collection of King George III’s grandson emerges on the market

The auction on July 3 comprises the royal orders and medals awarded primarily to George, Duke of Cambridge (1819-1904), George III’s grandson and Queen Victoria’s first cousin.

• “An outstanding royal collection for sale”

This group has been passed down by direct descent, and, say the auctioneers, “their appearance on the market represents a unique opportunity to acquire treasures which until now have been held privately”.

They comprise approximately 80 lots with a combined pre-sale estimate in the region of £800,000.
