Art Fortnight aims to extend London in June
London’s art world leaders have come up with an initiative for extending the peak selling period that is London in June.
Art Fortnight London, which starts on June 21 and ends on July 4, comprises a programme of exhibitions, auctions and cultural events, linking the capital’s Old Master picture dealers with the cutting-edge Contemporary scene, and embracing major museums and galleries.

This was an early sign of the migration of London’s summer season from early June to later in the month and into July.
Current events such as London Art Week and Masterpiece, launched in 2010, are signs that the shift is now well established.
