Among the highlights is this 13 x 9in (34 x 24cm) advertising poster or flyer for a 1929 match between Valencia CF and England.

The fixture was played at Mestalla Stadium in Valencia on April 15.

Two weeks later, England lost 4-3 to Spain – the first time they were defeated on foreign soil (after 24 games unbeaten).

This pair of early 19th century Staffordshire pearlware lions is among the leading lots of Paul Beighton Auctioneers’ August 19 auction in Thurcroft, South Yorkshire.

On August 19, Mander Auctions of Newton Green in Sudbury, Suffolk, will offer this landscape with sheep by Victorian painter Charles Jones (1836-92).

A regular exhibitor at the Royal Academy from 1860-91, the artist is often referred to as Charles ‘Sheep’ Jones, due to his frequent portrayal of the livestock.

The 16½in x 2ft 5in (42 x 74cm) oil on canvas is estimated at £800-1200.
