The palace events are the best fairs he exhibits at, he says. “The 15th century palace with its iconic Deco extension added by Virginia and Stephen Courtauld provides a wonderful backdrop against which to sell beautiful things.
“This led me to seek out a series of statement buildings in which to create similar opportunities, including the Arts & Crafts mansion Voewood in north Norfolk and the De La Warr Pavilion Modernist masterpiece on the south coast.”
Organised by the custodian of Eltham Palace, English Heritage, the upcoming Art Deco Fair held at the historic site near Greenwich is on Saturday and Sunday, September 9-10.
This specialist fair offers a line-up of 30-plus well-known dealers. For furniture they include: The Design Gallery, Shine On Design, Circa 1900, Gazelles Art Deco. In decorative arts, exhibitors Simply Decorous, Scheherazade Antiques, and Decouverte will be setting out some of their best stock, as will Sibley Silver with Art Deco and silver plate. Jewellery dealers Hilary Conquoy and Marion David Decorative Arts will be offering Art Deco jewellery.
Entrance to the fair is £14.40 for an adult, which includes access to the rest of the palace and gardens.
