The highest price, €950,000 (£863,635), was paid for a large, 2ft (62cm), signed bronze version of L’Abandon, a cast by the Eugene Blot foundry made between 1905-22 of a model from c.1886. It was secured by an international collector.
An auction record emerged for a terracotta by Claudel when the unsigned and undated 8½in (21.5cm) second version of a study for Sakountala shown above, dated to c.1886, reached €370,000 (£336,365) – at which point it was pre-empted by the Musée D’Orsay.
In total, 12 lots, over half the sale, were pre-empted by French museums. These included two by the D’Orsay and four by the Musée Camille Claudel in Nogent-sur-Seine.
