American Art Deco

This Art Deco platinum, diamond, emerald and enamel brooch, above, designed as a Chinese scroll partially unrolled, is signed for Charlton & Co. The firm, founded in New York in 1909 by John W Charlton, employed French jewellery designer Maurice Duvalet in the Roaring Twenties while retailing pieces imported from some of the best French jewellery workshops of the time.
