Two of its three company officers resigned from the business in recent months.

Fryer & Brown was incorporated in January 2015 at The Old Mill in Cobham with Justin Fryer, Lin Fan and Jane Brown as shareholders. Brown, previously at Guildford’s Wellers, resigned as a director of the company on January 16, 2017. The firm’s company secretary, Martin Taylor, had resigned in November last year.

Fryer, now the sole director according to Companies House records, told ATG the company had ceased trading on January 16, 2017. Its most recent auction was held in December.

Fryer told ATG he has handed the keys of the Cobham premises back to the landlord and said he now expected the company to enter liquidation.

As ATG went to press the company was listed as ‘active’ on the Companies House website.

Its most recent accounts, those for the year to the end of March 2016, showed liabilities of £103,336.

Other Companies House documents show a new Surrey auction firm called Opus Auctions was incorporated on January 12 this year, with Brown listed as a shareholder, and Stephen Giles, former consultant head of jewellery at Fryer & Brown, listed as its only director.

ATG contacted Jane Brown but as we went to press we had not received a response to the points made in this story.
