A stand-out lot in Philip Serrell’s July 6 sale in Malvern is this still life by Dorothea Sharp (1874-1955). The 17½ x 14in (44 x 35cm) oil on board depicts a study of flowers in a vase on a ledge and has comes from a local private collection of 20th century British art.

A selection of 18th century pocket watches will feature in Tennants’ Summer Fine Art Sale on July 15 in Leyburn, North Yorkshire.
One of the highlights is this early 18th century gold repeating verge pocket watch by Daniel Quare, London, c.1710.
Quare (1649-1724) was an important clock, watch and instrument maker, who is said to have made a repeating watch for William III and other clocks and watches for the royal family. He was admitted to the Clockmakers’ Company in 1671 and became a master in 1708.
Estimate £3000-5000.
A single-owner collection of Indian miniatures, amassed over a 40-year period, will be included in Bloomsbury Auctions’ July 6 manuscripts sale in Pall Mall, London.
Estimated at £2500-3500, this early 19th century example of the Kangra school in Himachal Pradesh depicts a story from the 10th book of the Bhagavata Purana.
The scene relates to the tale of the young Krishna and his brother Balarama, who steal clothes belonging to the bathing gopis and hide them in a nearby tree. But the 10 x 12in (25 x 30cm) gouache, heightened in gold, is unusual as it depicts the moments before this unfolds.
A clutch of lots acquired by the celebrated 20th-century society figure Daisy Fellowes (1890-1962) leads Woolley & Wallis’ July 5 Salisbury auction offering furniture, works of art and clocks.
Fellowes, who married Reginald Fellowes, the cousin of Winston Churchill, lived at Donnington Grove in Newbury. It remained in the Fellowes family until it was sold in 1991.
Once described as ‘the very picture of fashionable depravity’, Fellowes gained a reputation for her wild parties and impressive jewellery collection.
Among the eight lots is this pair of 19th century japanned wardrobes, decorated in gilt on a black and brown ground with chinoiserie scenes. They measure 6ft (1.83m) high and are estimated at £2000-3000.
