The Victorian Messenger & Sons lamp from the Rhymney Railway was bid high above its £50-80 estimate before selling to an internet bidder on May 19.
East Bristol Auctions’ Andrew Stowe said: “This is an £80 lamp with a £6220 plaque. Finding something from this track is rare because it was such a small line for a short period of time.”
It was sold by the widow and family of a former Bristol railway worker and collector.
