Burford dealer Schotten specialises in sporting artefacts and has sold to buyers from the fashion industry including Ralph Lauren and Uli Knecht. Stock includes equestrian artwork, library furniture and games and it offers a restoration service.

Christopher Clarke Antiques, in Stow on the Wold, was founded in 1961 and is run by second-generation dealers Simon and Sean Clarke. They offer campaign furniture from the 18th to late 19th centuries, supplying hotels and interior designers as well as private customers.

This year Carpe Diem runs from June 17-July 1 at Manfred Schotten Antiques in Burford (the north Oxfordshire town which is billed as the ‘southern gateway to the Cotswolds’), marking the sixth collaboration between the two dealers. Of the more than 100 objects on offer are pieces such as portable furniture, smaller travel accessories, sporting equipment and artwork.

The dealers will continue a tradition of donating part of the profit to local charity Kate’s Nursing Home, adding to the more than £40,000 they have raised for the organisation over the past few years. Part of the money comes from a Cotswold Navigational Rally, which attracts vintage and classic cars as well as modern vehicles.
