In 1658, Fromanteel brought pendulum technology from Amsterdam to London, thereby revolutionising clock accuracy and design.
The clock is thought to have been left in a house bought by the vendor’s father after the war and is described as in ‘barn find’ condition. It is dated to the third quarter of the 17th century and its formerly ebonised case has a rising hood with original iron spoon lock. The estimate is £8000-12,000.
