The US TV series of the superhero began in 1966 and, although the show was never screened in the UK, the Corgi Toys No 268 model, produced from 1967-71, was a big hit with British buyers, home sales outselling export models.
With a radiator grille firing a red plastic missile and a boot that opens to allow a ‘radar spinner’ to be launched upwards, it was a toy which didn’t really need the back of a TV serial. Playworn examples can be bought for under £30, and most boxed examples under £300, but a London collector bought this exceptional survivor at £780.
