Textiles and tribal

This striking mid-19th century Yao ritual scroll painting from the Guangxi Province in south-west China, above, is priced at £495 by dealer Martin Conlan. He is taking it to the London Antique Textiles & Tribal Art fair at the Olympia Hilton Hotel in Kensington High Street on Sunday, November 19.

Making an entrance is assured wearing this 1920s gold and black lamé coat, below left, at £395 which will be on sale from Lucinda Alford.

The specialist biannual fair, with its particular focus on early tribal textiles, is run by P&A Antiques’ Alberto Ricca and is now in its 17th year.

Toys, teddies and dolls

Nominated by ATG last year as one of the year’s top three newcomer events (ATG No 2272), the London International Antique Doll, Teddy Bear and Toy Fair is back this year, bigger and at a larger London venue.

Titled 200 Years of Childhood and covering antique and vintage pieces up to the 1970s, there will be 106 standholders at the fair in Kensington Town Hall on Sunday, November 19.

It was launched last year by dolls and teddy bear specialist Daniel Agnew of Berkshire auction house Special Auction Services and Hilary Pauley, a teddy bear collector.

Exhibitors on November 19 include: from California, David Robinson and Michael Canadas from the Carmel Doll Shop; Respectful Bear from Paris; The Art of the Tin Toy in London and Amsterdam dealer Claartje Pennick (see below).
