Sotheby’s sale of the Yeats collection in London on September 27 includes some valuable pictures and archive material relating to arguably Ireland’s most important artistic family.

But among the ‘more affordable’ lots are Jack B Yeats’ model boats and top hat, as well as apiece of personalised silver given to William B Yeats by his future wife George.

The silver box is inscribed Willy from George/July 1915 and is estimated at £100-120.

A Citrine Arts & Crafts brooch by Edith Linnell will feature in Tennants’ Jewellery, Watches & Silver sale on September 23, estimated at £150-250.

The vendor initially believed it to be a piece of costume jewellery of little value before finding out it was made by one of the most well-known and collectable female silversmiths of the period.
