“Traders are keen to work on Saturdays as there are fewer antique/ vintage markets for them to trade at,” said Christian. “Also, the area is much busier on a Saturday with the Borough Market nearby.”

Earlier this year the Scrimgeours teamed up with the Royal Horticultural Society to run RHS Flowers and Flea. Christian said: “Our first involvement with the RHS was in April with the market’s first joint event when the society joined the market selling plants and giving workshops.

The RHS is keen to promote itself to a younger crowd and the talks are very much geared to people who have a small garden or just a window box.”

The next RHS link-up with Flea@Flat Iron Square is over the weekend of December 2-3.

It will feature live music and plenty of festive touches at the stalls selling ceramics, clothes, furniture, specs and vinyl.
