1. Harry Moore Gwyn’s sale at 25 Blythe Road in London on March 28 achieved an above-estimate £850 for this 10½ x 16in (27 x 41cm) pencil and watercolour Indian view by Ezekiel Barton (1781- 1855). He was a high-ranking army officer who served in Bengal with the East India Company.

2. Waiting for the Procession during Rhamadan, Cairo was painted by Swedish artist Axel Haig (1835- 1921) and dates from a trip to Egypt in 1890. The small 6 x 8in (15 x 20cm) signed watercolour surpassed a £100-200 estimate to sell for £360 at John Nicholson’s in Surrey on March 28.

3. Selling for a multi-estimate £420 at Gildings Auctioneers in Leicestershire on March 27 was this Isle of Wight view by Cavendish Morton (1911-2015), who is better known for his views of Suffolk with the Norwich Twenty Group.
