The 9in (23cm) high glazed ochre and brown piece is modelled as a dog crouched on all fours with human features and a wide, smiling toothy grin. It was made by Robert Wallace Martin and is dated 1884.
Consigned from a private European collection, it carries an estimate of £30,000-50,000.
